Speakly (speaklyapp.co) is a language learning app that helps people learn Spanish and English through structured lessons, vocabulary practice, and an AI tutor named Luna.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. We only collect what we need, we are transparent about how we use it, and we never sell your data to anyone.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the service — your account data lets you log in, pick up where you left off, and track your progress across devices.
• To personalize your learning path — your skill level, native language, and goals help us show you the right lessons at the right time.
• To power Luna, the AI tutor — your messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses. Anthropic processes these messages according to their own privacy policy at anthropic.com.
• To process payments — subscription billing is handled by Stripe.
• To send important emails — things like account confirmation, password resets, and major policy changes. We do not send marketing spam.

Speakly is built on top of several trusted third-party services. Here is who they are and what they do with your data:

• AI chat sessions — automatically deleted after 14 days.
• Account and learning data — kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed.
• Payment records — kept for 7 years as required by financial regulations. These records contain only billing amounts and dates, not card details.

You are in control of your data. You can:

• Access your data — request a copy of all the data we hold about you.
• Delete your account — go to Settings and delete your account at any time. All your data is permanently removed.
• Opt out of analytics — you can disable PostHog tracking in your browser using a standard ad blocker or by contacting us.

7. Cookies

We use two types of cookies:

• Essential cookies — required for authentication. These allow you to stay logged in. Without them, the app cannot function. We do not need your consent for these.
• Analytics cookies (optional) — set by PostHog to help us understand how users interact with the app. These are optional and can be declined or blocked.

We do not use advertising cookies or sell cookie data to any third party.

8. Children's Privacy

Speakly is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account on Speakly, please contact us at hello@speaklyapp.co and we will promptly delete the account.

If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will notify all registered users by email before the changes take effect. Minor updates (like fixing typos or clarifying language) may be made without notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
